Jimmy Huynh, Big Red Band Member

To all Big Red Band members and parents:
It is with heavy heart that I share with you the loss of Big Red Band family member, Jimmy Huynh. Jimmy was a fantastic student, a great friend, a wonderful band member, and an inspiration to all who knew him and worked with him.
The Big Red Band consists of approximately 230 wind players, color guard members, and percussionists. We spend many hours in rehearsals in separate groups as well as in Big Red Band marching band rehearsals and performances together. Our students spend countless hours together outside of school and practice: out to eat a dinner, going to enjoy a movie, or just hanging around the band hall. Through this, we have become a strong family, learning to love each other as friends and teammates.
We, as a family, know that every Mustang in our program will no doubt experience grief with the loss of Jimmy. I hope we can also take this time as a band family to remember the inspiration, the smiles, the jokes, the support, and musicianship he gave each and every one of us. We, as the Westfield Big Red Band, stand with Jimmy’s family as well as every member of our program who knew him and cherished his friendship.
The funeral service for Jimmy will take place on June 26th, 2018 at 2pm at the Klein Funeral Home & Memorial. The address is 16131 Champion Forest Dr. Spring, TX 77379.
I want to also extend the offer for any student that is having a hard time with this tragic event to please contact a band director through the remind system or email. Not only are teachers and students here to support you but we also have counselors available to anyone who should need them. Do not hesitate to reach out as we all band together and support each other through these times.
Sincerely,
Scott Norman
Director of Bands
Westfield High School
