About the Big Red Band

The Westfield Band began in 1981 under the direction of Richard Crain. Over the course of it’s history, the ‘Big Red’ band has earned many awards and honors both on local and national levels.

Members of the band participate in a field production in the Fall and perform in concert ensembles in the Spring. Many opportunities for small ensemble and solo performances are also available to every member.

The Westfield Band places a strong emphasis on character building, strong moral principles and leadership ideals throughout all grade levels. Our hope is to help students become better citizens, students, and lifetime music lovers.

Westfield High School, part of the Spring Independent School District, is located in Houston, Texas a few miles from I-45 with an enrollment of nearly 3200 students. The band at Westfield consists of about 200 of these students.
