Weekly Update 10/8/18

Big Red Band!

Congratulations to our students for a fantastic showing at the Bands of America Houston Regional this Saturday! A giant thank you goes to all the staff, parents, and booster members who volunteered their time to make our Saturday successful and positive. All of the pieces come together to make our program a machine. We have two more marching band contests this season and, as a program, we are excited to push to the “next level.”

Please see below, some items to note would be:

MAJOR REHEARSAL on Monday, this is a student holiday but we have a clinic with Chief BOA Judge, Gary Markham to set our growth in motion for the remainder of the season. Please see previous updates and posts about this rehearsal. It is always important to be present at rehearsals but this one is atypical because of the student holiday and clinician so we are capitalizing on this opportunity. Thanks!

Woodwind Masterclasses as normally scheduled on Tuesday

Low Brass and Trumpet Masterclasses on Wednesday

Horn Masterclass on Thursday

Seniors, please see previous posts and communications on remind regarding senior night this Friday at the football game. We will NOT be performing our Varsity Marching show at the game as we are performing for the homecoming ceremonies during halftime. We WILL be getting a performance run through before leaving for the game that afternoon as we have a contest on Monday the 15th for the first annual SISD Festival of Bands!

For all students, please write a short paragraph about your experience at BOA Houston and a bulleted list of some things you enjoyed seeing or something appreciated about the bands that performed at finals on Saturday evening. There is so much artistry and achievement happening in our program as well as others. It is so important to enjoy everyone’s work as it will continue to inspire us as we do our work!

See everyone tomorrow for rehearsals, let’s have a great week!
